On May 18-19, 2024, the “2024 Symposium of Comparative Education for Mid-Career Scholars”, jointly organized by the China Comparative Education Society (CCES) and Henan University, was held in Kaifeng, Henan Province. The event brought together over 300 mid-career faculty members and graduate students from nearly 100 universities across China.
The theme of symposium was “High-Level Opening-Up in Education: International Experience and Chinese Wisdom”. An opening address delivered online by Professor Wang Dinghua, vice president of the Chinese Society of Education and CPC secretary of Beijing Foreign Studies University. The symposium included 2 keynote speeches, 11 plenary presentations, and 16 parallel forums.

Xu Mo, along with eight doctors and eight masters from GSE, participated in the parallel forums. Academic presentations in these sessions covered diverse topics including: international perspectives on higher education modernization, theories and practices of educational internationalization, missions and challenges in education internationalization, foundational theories for building China into a leading country in education, governance in educational modernization, talent exchange under sustainable development frameworks, high-level education and opening-up in the new era, modernization of vocational education from global viewpoints, etc.
