Abstract
In this talk, the speaker will provide a comprehensive overview of the contemporary landscape of international higher education research and offer forward-looking perspectives on its future directions. She will trace the historical evolution of the field, highlighting major developments across different regions, with particular attention to emerging trends within the East Asian research community. The presentation will also examine key research themes and methodological approaches commonly featured in leading international journals, illustrating how the field has diversified in both scope and rigor. In addition, the seminar will address important aspects of academic publishing, including the expectations and evaluation criteria of international journals from editors’ perspectives, as well as practical insights for scholars seeking to contribute to this global research.
Biography
Jisun Jung is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education at The University of Hong Kong (HKU). Her research interests include the academic profession, doctoral and master’s education, and graduate employability, with a particular focus on East Asia and comparative perspectives. She has published more than 100 journal articles, book chapters, and edited volumes internationally. She has been listed among the world’s top 2% most-cited scientists in the field of Education since 2022, according to Stanford University. She is currently the Director of the Consortium for Higher Education Research in Asia (CHERA) at HKU and serves as Editor-in-Chief of Higher Education Research & Development (Q1, Taylor & Francis).
