The Center for Global Education Governance at Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) was established in May 2021 as a university-level non-profit research institution. Guided by the vision of “think-tank orientation, policy guidance, and teaching leadership,” the center leverages BFSU’s strengths in education, integrates research resources both within and outside the university, and conducts in-depth theoretical and practical research on major issues, core concepts, and development trends in international education organizations and global education governance. In 2024, the center was successfully selected as a CTTI annual source think-tank, in recognition of its excellent research achievements and extensive social influence.
Academic Research
The center adopts an international and China-focused perspective, actively exploring strategies and pathways for China’s participation in global education governance. It is committed to developing a distinctive Chinese theoretical framework for education governance. Professor Wang Dinghua, the chief expert of the center, leads the National Social Science Fund Major Project “Research on the Ability and Strategy of China to Participate in Global Education Governance in the New Era.” Under his leadership, the center has published significant works, including Global Education Governance Strategy and the “The Belt and Road” Cultural Education Series. Additionally, the center regularly publishes the International Education Newsletter and an annual report on major global education events, providing timely updates and research findings to policymakers, researchers, and practitioners in the field of education.
International Exchanges and Cooperation
The center actively builds domestic and international academic exchange platforms to foster the collision and integration of academic ideas. By organizing high-level academic activities and inviting renowned experts and scholars from around the world to share their research, the center promotes theoretical innovation and practical exploration in global education governance. It has also engaged in joint research projects with universities, research institutions, and international organizations in the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, South Korea, South Africa, and other countries. These collaborations aim to explore key issues in global education governance and enhance the center’s influence in the international education community.
